Drought Tolerant Irvine yard A front yard re-do with low water plants, textures and a cohesive look that qualified for the semi-finals in Roger's Gardens garden contest.
There were a few elements in this front yard that were so good - the beautifully trimmed backdrop of 'Mock Orange', overflowing hot pink Bougainvillea and an old hedge of Juniper that made a green wall. The complaint was the hodge-podge of plants in the middle. Kim and Norris wanted a more modern look with water-efficient plants in cool colors. This design used existing boulders and broken cement as a pathway. Tall and short grasses bring movement with Agave's and succulents add year-round color. The 'Euphorbia cotinifolia' centers the design with it's contrasting maroon foliage. The small planting area on the other side of the driveway shows a second 'cotinifolia' to bring the entire front together.
